Foreign Family Collective, ODESZA’s label, released their second single this week, Big Wild’s “Aftergold,” and it’s a snare hopping, vocal snippet journey through sounds. Big Wild has gained some gold stars the past 10 days, releasing a remix by Kodak to Graph, “IAMANTHEM”. In all, “Aftergold” beacons dance hall silly distorted vocals, juxtaposing the flutter of what we can only think of is a African thumb piano in the background.
“Aftergold” has a similar whipped up melody of Flume’s remix of “Hyperparidse” by Hermtiude, as both give us a complicated look at different tones and textures throughout. And comparing oneself to Flume is something not to be taken lightly.
